Shirley Ann Brady, 78 of Cedar Rapids passed away at home Sunday December 15, 2013. Visitation will be held Thursday night at All Saints Catholic Church from 4-7PM with a Vigil and Rosary service starting at 4:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday December 20, 2013 at 10:30AM with on hour visitation beginning an hour prior, at All Saints Catholic Church with the Rev. John R. Flaherty will be conducting the service. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial park Cemetery following the lunch.
Shirley was born August 24, 1935 to Lewis Matthews and Orlinda (Krapfl) in Greeley Iowa. Shirley attended Mt. Mercy College after high school. Shirley worked at Hy-Vee Drug Town from 1974 until her retirement in 1997.
Shirley married Dorrance J. Brady May 5, 1956 in Greeley Iowa. Shirley and Dorrance were Charter Members of All Saints Church. Shirley was part of the resurrection choir and was a member of nearly every All Saints committee over the years. Shirley also volunteered at Mercy Hospital. Shirley enjoyed sunsets on the beach, loved to laugh and was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband Dorrance Brady of Cedar Rapids, two sons, Mark (Janice) Brady, Scott (Tammie) Brady both of Cedar Rapids, daughter Jane (Joe) Kipper of Lenexa KS. Six grandchildren Nicklaus, Kayla, Stephanie, Rachel Brady all of Cedar Rapids, and Matthew and Ryan Kipper of Lenexa KS.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Betty Reiter and Gerene Wooldridge both of Iowa and brother Larry Matthews of Richfield MN.
