I too have only now discovered the passing of Sharon. I knew her mother Jacqueline Irene (Wallace) Harms since February 1, 1964. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Sharon, I feel a strange sense of loss as if I knew her like family, because of who her mother was to me.
My thoughts are with the family, and I hope time allowed you to heal. It appears that Sharon lived a full and wonderful life without regret. I can't think of a better way to spend a lifetime.

Terry & family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Sharon was neat woman who always had a smile and a laugh regardless of the situation. It was obvious how much she loved her family as she spoke of everyone often.
She left the world a better place through her kindness and teaching.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Terry and Family,
You have been such good friends over the years! Remember your house with the sleep-in kitchen and our trailer. We had many good times there and many others as the years passed. I am so glad you had time to meet us for lunch in December of 2010. I have the picture of the four of us that rotates on our computer - good memories! Shari certainly had a long fight - As well as you and your family. We are in Naples, Florida for the winter so will not be able to be with you, but will be thinking of you.

Dear Shaffer Family,
I had the good fortune of working with Sharon for many years at Indian Creek Elementary School. It’s been almost twenty five years since then, but I still have fond memories of our time together. Sharon was a wonderful music teacher. She always encouraged her students to do their best and instilled in them a love and appreciation for music. Her music programs were always terrific. She had a special relationship with Karma Bailey, our physical education teacher. Those two were quite a pair! I’ll never forget the instructional challenges Sharon faced during our time at Indian Creek. She never had a true “music” classroom. She delivered music to our students in their classrooms (using a cart), for several years in a portable classroom and finally from a converted locker room. Those obstacles never got in Sharon’s way of making music fun and enjoyable for students. I’m sure Sharon is looking down on us right now. I’ll bet she has her very own magnificently furnished music room with all the trimmings. She most certainly deserves it. My thoughts are prayers are with you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Terry, Stephanie, John, Jason and the rest of Mama Shaffer's family. I feel so very lucky to have known Mrs. Shaffer - she was such a kind, generous, loving, funny and all-around wonderful person. She also helped create a beautiful and exceptional family - a true gift to the world.
Sharon will live on in each of us who knew her and got to experience her joyful spirit. I will lovingly remember her for the rest of my life.
I can only imagine what a terribly painful time this is but I hope that each of you can take some measure of comfort knowing that Sharon is no longer suffering - that she is finally at rest and in peace.
Just as Mama Shaffer was loved by SO MANY, you all are also beloved. Your friends and family are surrounding your with our prayers, positive energy and our love. No matter how dark the days may get, know that there are so many people who care about you and please let us know if there is anything we can do - anything at all - to ease your pain.
With my deepest condolences and with all my love,
Melissa

One of my fondest memories of elementary school is of Hazel the Witch visiting music and gym classes at Indian Creek. What fun that was! Years later, as an elementary teacher myself, I took the idea and would pretend to be my twin sister. Hazel the Witch was already taken! Mrs. Shaffer got a kick out of that when I told her. :-)
Other special memories include the musicals created and produced by Mrs. Shaffer and Mrs. Bailey. What could be more fun than a musical about the circus or pirates? I have very clear memories of the rehearsals and even the performances. Those were good times!
And let's not forget Elvis Day and Grease Day! I don't imagine there were too many teachers that taught their students those songs and dances! I won the costume contest for the girls and remember flying in the air while dancing. That was great!
Which leads me to square dancing...I don't specifically remember if Mrs. Shaffer was in gym class while we learned these dances, but I bet she was. Mrs. Shaffer and Mrs. Bailey were such a good team! :-)
I also remember the posters that highlighted each musical instrument. It just so happens that I was in a school the other day and some of those very same posters were displayed in the music room. I thought of Mrs. Shaffer with a smile.
She will be missed.

Such a beautifully written tribute to her! What a wonderful life to celebrate. As you all take a moment to honor her life, let it be known her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched. There are so many people, who like me won't be able to attend the services for her, but know what an impact she made on so many people. The fun she made for everyone, I hope that is acknowledged to you all repeatedly and that you are forever reminded of how much she was appreciated.

Love to you all as you move forward, she will be with you in everything you do.
Hugs to you all,

Terry, Stephanie, Jason, and John, I was so sorry to read your mom's obituary in today's paper. She was one of my all-time favorite parents! I can still see her visiting Kenwood School in her witch costume every Halloween. She would glow with so much love and pride when the Shaffer kids auditioned every year for the Kenwood Talent Show. She will be greatly missed by everyone who ever had the privilege of knowing her. Thank heavens each of you reflects her loving and kind soul. You remain in my thoughts and prayers! With love, "Ms. Jane"

All my love to the Shaffer family. Mrs. Shaffer (as she always will be in my memories, even when she told me to call her Sharon as adult) was the first person to really encourage my love of theater and singing. In fourth grade we put on the musical and I got to sing my first solo out of church as "Stephanie" singing the Gypsy's Lament. Meeting the real Stephanie, Sharon's daughter, years after that, just reinforced the love of singing, theater and everything over-dramatic (at least on the stage). Our lives have been intertwined over the years and I pray that through your grief and healing that you remember only the good times.

You have our sincere condolences from us.
Sharon and your family were one of the many favorite families that we did daycare for. I remember Stephanie loving my chili and John and Jason loving most anything I served them for lunch and snacks.
Sharon and Terry were always so kind to me and called me the children's 2nd Mother.
I'm sure the Lord and his angels are rejoicing with Sharon now and she is very happy and healthy now...
May the Lord bless and keep you all with him.
Your old sitter,
