Dear Curt and Beth,

I was saddened to hear of the death of your son, Matthew. Having lost a son myself, I can empathize with the depth of your grief at the loss of a child. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Livengood Family,

I met Matt on the first day of 2nd grade. It was my first day at Grant Wood and he was the first person I met. We stayed in touch into adulthood and I am devastated by his passing.

I will never forget the twinkle in his eye and his open, honest smile. He never really aged in my eyes...he remained the same, sweet boy I'd met in second grade - always a kid at heart, up for anything, ready for adventure. It wasn't always the big mountains...I remember a beautiful day we spent at Maquoqueta Caves talking about where our lives had taken us and where they might be going.

What a special person, a kindred spirit to many - a blessing to all.

My heart hurts for your loss of a son, brother, uncle - I pray that the lord bring you peace during this incredibly difficult time.

Dr. Livengood and Family,

You took such wonderful care of our son for almost 20 years. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Matt only one time and he stood out then, immediately, from the crowd. He was very special and you only had to know him for a few minutes to see this. I wonder if he knew how truly special he was. As life so often does reveal -we have several similiarities I didn't realize we had, until now. Our family being originally from Burlington, Iowa and having relocated to Denver and with family still in Cedar Rapids. My condolences to Matt's family and close friends. My sister Gena Streeter-Jones is the wife of Simon Jones who Matt worked with in Colorado.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.\\\\r\\\\nDr, Livengood was our three childrens dentist for all their growing up years. Your son's smile says it all. What a beautiful person. God Bless.

A friend alerted me to Matt's obit today. I want to extend sympathy to all those who knew Matt. I knew Matt in undergrad at Iowa. We parted ways after college, but I ran into him in Vail in January. He came up to me as I was getting ready to go up the mountain and said hello. It had probably been 15 years since I had seen him, but I instantly recognized his smile and fond memories of times in Iowa City and on the slopes rushed back. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Curt, Beth, Hillary and Heather, Please accept our sincere codolences at this tragic time. Healing takes so long, and the hole that is left in our hearts and home lasts forever. It has only been one year since our 13-year old grandson Noah died with services at First Lutheran, and we miss him so. But we have lovely memories of that bubbly little guy, just as you do of your Matthew. I remember Matthew as that beautiful little boy in Sunday School many years ago. Our prayers are with you all.

Dear Family:

Prayers and thoughts go out to you all in such a short life of Matt. Now he is your angel in heaven...thinking of you all!

Matt's picture captures the beautiful combination he is of you both!! Something Gene said that helped us both when our daughter died suddenly at the age of 31 , I want to share with you. Gene said."If God told us.right up front...You can have this girl but she will only be with you for 31 years .Will you still take her?" We would have jumped at the chance to be her parents ! She was just that fantastic. !We believe you also would not want to miss a moment ..Matt's zest for life , his way of embracing nature, all those family memories!. .We hope and we pray as exhausting as GRIEF is....that you feel Matt's presence in your life! We do know exactly how it feels to have your world turned upside down! Praying for you...Sally and Gene

Matt and I graduated together from Washington H.S. in 1989 and his father was my dentist until I was 16 yrs. old. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family. He will be dearly missed.

RIP Matt.
