Lorraine Dew Price, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Hallmark Care Center, Mt. Vernon, following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Family Center and Library. Private burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Jim Young) Olney of Cedar Rapids, Sandi (Bob) Kallenberger of Blue Grass, IA, and Charlane (Harlyn) Janssen of Hampton, IA; her sister, Shirley A. Sander of Marion; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and her sister Ina (Bill) Nelson.
Lorraine was born June 23, 1925 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Ralph and Mabel (Merrifield) Dew. She was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Wilson High School. She was united in marriage to Charles Price on December 16, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1992. She was employed in customer service at Sun Mart Food stores, Iowa Electric, and Sakora Bakery. She also spent much of her working career assisting her husband in his restaurant business. She enjoyed cooking, and above all, time spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
