Edith J. Cooley, 80 of 19 Aloha Dr. Hiawatha, Iowa died March 13, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 8, 1927 in Denver, Iowa, daughter of Fredrich and Ida Nolting. She was married to Charles L. Cooley on July 11, 1947 in Waterloo by the Rev. H. H. Diers.
She graduated from East High School in Waterloo, graduated with a teaching degree from Wartburg College in 1947, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. She retired from teaching in 1989.
Survivors include her husband, Charles L. Cooley of Hiawatha, four sons, David of Grand Canyon, AZ, Richard of La Monte, Mo., Dennis of Waterloo, and Douglas of Cedar Rapids, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Fred Nolting of Denton, TX, Wendell Nolting of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Eldon Nolting of Gilbert, Minn., and one sister Eunice Lee of Hiawatha, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Warren Nolting, a sister Elaine Powers, and a granddaughter Jolene Richardson.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday March 17th at St. Andrew Lutheran church in Cedar Rapids where the family is members, with burial in the Garden of Memories, Waterloo, Iowa.
Relative and friends may call Sunday March 16th from 2PM to 5PM at Cedar Memorial funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
