Michael Kent McCune, 60, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Monday, October 29, 2007, after a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by Deacon LaVerne Flagel of All Saints Catholic Church. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel today from 4 to 6 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Survivors include four sisters, Lezlie Gary Havlik, Mary Anne McCune, Amy John McCord, and Beth McCune, all of Cedar Rapids; and a niece, Angie Lonnie Klein.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John.
Mike was born on January 23, 1947 in Cedar Rapids to Lester and Rita Dautremont McCune. He lived most of his life at the Woodward Resource Center. The most important things in his life were his family and home visits but he loved "Big, Tall, Chocolate Sundaes" from the Dairy Queen and his Dr. Pepper pop.
The family would like to thank his "second family", the staff at the Woodward Resource Center, for the loving and dedicated care given to Mike.
