Marianne Bastian, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday May 4, 2014 in St. Luke’s Hospital. Memorial services: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Thomas E.S. (Ted) Miller. 

Survivors include her brother, Edward Bastian of Santa Barbara; niece, Alexandria (Nulty) White of New York City; nephews Jonathan Bastian of Louisville, KY and Paul Keeley of Los Angeles; sister-in-law Lesley Bastian of Annapolis MD, cousins Ralph (Teresa) Bastian of San Francisco, Howard Bastian of Minneapolis, Betsy Mithun (Mark) of Illinois, John (Danna) Bastian of Belle Fourche SD, Emily (Robert) Rogers of Geneva IL, Victoria (Timothy) Walch of Iowa City, and Edith Irons of Charlotte, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenneth Bastian, and cousin, Bruce Irons. 

Marianne was born November 24, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Ann (Winslow) Bastian. She was a loving caregiver of children, elders and innumerable friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice, First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, or the Cedar Rapids Fire Department Public Education Program.

Marianne embodied an incomparable combination of humor, compassion, love, wisdom, strength, courage, and loyalty.  She was loved by absolutely everyone.
