Mabel was my mom's best friend in high school and maid-of-honor at her wedding. I always remember her visits to Lime Springs with fondness and enjoyed spending time with Jeffrey when she would bring him to the house when we were very young. I am deeply saddened by her passing, but glad to know that she has found peace in the gentle arms of God. My deepest sympathy to her family. May beautiful memories bring you comfort.

I taught with Mabel Hunnicutt at Harrison Elementary for fifteen years. She was a kind, kind soul. Always looking for the best in those children who came from such poverty. Not an easy place to teach with kids acting out all the time. She worked with them well. An "unsung" hero as you might say. She said to me many times all of us just need love and recognition. (teachers too!) Very sweet person. Then I was fortunate enough to be with her in the later years of her life at Cedar Rapids Woman's Club. She loved that organization and loved playing bridge! Blessings to all the family. She is in God's light now and is at peace for all her labors. See you again in heaven Mabel!!!

I taught with Mabel at Harrison School and enjoyed working with her. She was always professional in her job but also had a sense of humor. We both lived on the SE side of town, so she would often pick me up and drive us both over to school, allowing us time to visit with one another. Years after we both had retired, I was tickled to run into her again at her polling place during an election. She was there to cast her vote and also see that Tabatha was able to be accomodated and vote too. It made my day to see them together, enjoying each others' company while taking care of their civic duty. Mable was a good woman and classy to the end. Her legacy is to be found in Tabatha, whom she cared for with all her heart.
