Sally Carolyn Herman, Age 80, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away at the UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital on Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 5, 2024, at the Falcon Civic Center, 137 4th Street, North, Central City, IA from 1 to 4 PM.
Sally was born on February 20, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Meta (Gifford) Blood. She loved puzzles, movies, and collecting unicorns. She was an avid animal lover, having had several pets throughout her life. Sally loved to read about everything. She was a huge John Wayne fan. She had a lot of fun baking with her great granddaughter Emmy. She spent time planting her flowers in the spring and had beautiful indoor plants. In her later years at the nursing home, she enjoyed the crafts and activities and had many friends. She will be missed by family and friends alike.
Those left to cherish Sally’s memory are her daughters, Dawn (David Weeks) Carton, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Denece (Brett) Lafler, of Central City, IA; her grandchildren, Travis (Stephanie) Carton, of Dubuque, IA, Rebecca (Adam) Mueller, of Dubuque, IA, Adam Jacobs, of Central City, IA, Jesse Lafler, of Lees Summit, MO, and Rachel Lafler, of Ames, IA; her great-grandchildren, Emmy Jacobs, Mason Jacobs, Jack Mueller, and Grace, Mueller; a sister, Debbie (Steve) Miller, of Merritt Island, FL., a sister-in-law, Susan Blood, of Alburnett, IA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Richard Blood, Robert Blood, and Marilyn Douglas.
