Stacey, we were so very saddened and shocked to read about your dad's death in the paper. We spoke with Lisa at the office and she told us what had happened. It was always so much fun talking to Al about the dogs and politics, and whatever else the men had to solve that day! Ha. We will miss his smile and not seeing him walk the dog(s) around town. We send you our very deepest sympathy to you and your family during this time in his loss. Love to you all. Terry & Boni

I'm sorry for your sudden loss. I would run into Al every couple of months, we would talk business briefly, then quickly turn to discussing "mans best friend". He will be greatly missed. John A.

My sympathy to your family. I attended Franklin Junior High, Washington High School and Iowa Law School with Al and lived a block away from him for many years. He was alway held in high regard by his fellow students. Ken

I am so sorry to read about the passing of Al. He was a good Democrat and someone I could always count on. My sincere sympathies, Lu Barron Linn County Supervisor

We are so very sorry for your loss.

We are so very sorry for your loss.

To the Kane: Please accept our condolences on your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. We hope that comfort and peace come to you. Alan and I spent many hours discussing world issues, coaching and how much fun grand kids are while we worked out together. May God bless all of you. Jim and Carol Voss

Martha and Stacey you have my sympathy. I haven't had contact with Al for years until I ran into him at a market and he recently called to see if I would take a dog. I was unaware of health issues, so this comes as a shock. If you are having difficulty finding a home for the most recent dog, there is a "no kill" shelter on Rockford Road. Other shelters place dogs there, so you may need to give another shelter the chance to find a home. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. LuAnn Ask
