Van - what a SPECIAL lady Liz was. Jack and I were so blessed to get to know the two of you at the Elks when we visited Cedar Rapids. Here is a poem and Bible verse I hope brings you comfort. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith..........II Timothy 4:7 An Empty House It’s not as if I’m going, to an empty house, you see. I know I’m going up there, with my other family. I want no tears or crying. I want to see you smile. Just stay with me and hold my hand as I walk that last long mile. My life’s been good and filled with love, just see how I’ve been blessed. I’ve seen a lot and done a lot, I’ve had the very best. Why, look around and you will see, as all of you are here that no one could have asked for more ~ you’re all so very dear. No, it’s not an empty house, this place I’m traveling to, I’m just arriving sooner, than any one of you. -- Patti Koch ‘99 With my deepest sympathy ~ God Bless ? Patti

I was so sorry to hear of Betty's passing! I remember her as a customer of Armstrong's! I ran into her so many times over the years, and always loved seeing her!

Dear Van, I was so sorry to learn of Liz's passing. I will forever remember her beautiful smile. She was always so good helping you with organizing the Railroad Dinners. What fun those were and so nice to see many of the men that had retired and listen to their stories.... Know that you are in my special thoughts and prayers, With sympathy, Annamae (Vern) Baker

Dear Merle and family, So sorry to hear of Liz passing. My Mom, Eva had such wonderful memories of spending time with you both. Our thoughts are with you. Susan Burbridge Brown

Van – My parents and I were at the Elk’s Club the other day and mentioned how we miss seeing you and Liz at your table full of friends. We will miss Liz’s smiling face. There were a lot of good times celebrated between neighbors on 30th Street and Staub Court. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Van and Gene, I just wanted to let you know how sorry I was to learn of your loss. You all will be in my prayers. Bob Holley
