Carolyn I have such good memories of both Jim and you! Proud to have been Jim’s classmate at Kings Point and Loyola. Sharp wit and kind spirit gave Jim that special appeal that was challenging while comforting. I recall our friendship with you both at Loyola with affection tinged nostalgia — Jim and I stood for a time together at the threshold of our professional careers that we spawned in divergent waters blessed each to trim sail in fair wind and following sea. God Bless my ‘shipmate’ at maritime school who then mentored me of his dreams immanent for professional advocacy. I admire in memorial the cut of Jim’s spinnaker aloft again on yet another ocean. I could not hope for more than one day board the schooner “Shipman” in the waters where now he sails. Peter Mueller.

I knew Jim from when I worked at Simmons Perrine. He was always a very kind man, extremely intelligent, and very well respected. I was hoping to attend the visitation but was unable to. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Jim's family and the many others that will miss him. He made a big impact on many lives. May God bless you during your time of mourning.

So sorry for your loss. I learned a lot about perseverance, compassion and justice while working with Jim. I'll never forget when he held the door open for his court reporter, who had an armload or equipment and simply said "Chivalry isn't dead."

I will not forget Jim's kindness to my father our sons and me at Lake Miltona, Minnesota. He helped me find lodging near your cabin and took time to show us where and how to fish. He even gave us snelled hooks that I had never seen before along with the right bait to use. For years afterwards our two sons and my dad mentioned the times we had on that trip. It was all do to Jim's kindness. Bruce
