To the entire family. Mrs. Malcolm was the type of lady that once you met her you loved her. She always had an open place in heart for all the kids that Judd & Rod would bring around. She was most gracious and a beautiful person. I'm sorry I was un able to attend I blew up a neighborhood installing a sprinkler ugh things happen. May God be with you all. My father passed Sept 11 @ 87 it is difficult. God Bless you all

Malcolm Family - I frequented the Second Act for 20 years. The bargains were almost as good as the conversations with Carol. Life has not been the same without the Second Act. I can't believe it has been 10 years. Luckily my husband and I were able to converse with Carol and Charlie at Winifred's in recent years. Thinking of you at this sad time. Carol will be missed.

Malcolm family, very sorry for the loss of your mom. Carol was one of a kind and such a wonderful neighbor and friend to my mom and dad. They were always great support for one another and had many wonderful conversations and laughs over the years. Thinking of you all, Jennie Ratcliff

Carol was our Mom's best friend. Her name, spoken in our family, meant royalty. The world with Carol and Mom going to lunch together is better than the one without it...but we thank God that it happened. Love and prayers from the Schultes to Carol and her family - eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Scott, Mary, and family, I am very sorry to hear of Carol's passing. Mary has spoken of her fondly over the years, and I know she will be missed. With heartfelt sympathy, Katherine Laggos Legacy.com

We are saddened by your loss. We think fondly of the wonderful fellowship with Scott & Mary.

Dear Family of Carol, I’m so sorry to read of the passing of Carol. I met Carol at The Second Act 38 years ago and then later with my three pre-teen girls who loved to find a good bargain and have conversations with Carol. After the flood, we were sad to see the The Second Act go. When a daughter attended the U of I, we re-discovered The Second Act in Iowa City! My daughter is now gone from Iowa City, but I occasionally go to Iowa City specifically to get a few things for them, as they feel connected to this store and what it stands for. Though we weren’t connected closely with Carol, her store and sense of style has had a lasting impact on my now adult children. Sincerely, Nancy Kula

I am so sorry to hear that Carol passed away. She was a fun and lovely lady. I worked for her at the Second Act and she was so kind to me. I am praying for the family. Linda Nixon

What a lady! I loved her shop. Spent a little money there on beautiful things. Also, had the opportunity to visit the west coast shop. Scott and Mary and others, I am sorry to hear about her death. She touched many lives. Comfort yourself with all the amazing memories you have.

To Carol's family … I will never forget Carol, who was a joy to know. While living in Cedar Rapids for years until 1999, I was a very frequent visitor to The Second Act. She treated all her customers as friends, and I know there are many who will remember her always. I am so sorry for your loss.
