Dorothy Beata Reager Eads, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church.  Private family inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dorothy was born April 8, 1932 in Primghar, Iowa to Henry and Janette (Lamb) Reager.  After graduating from high school, she conferred a bachelor of science degree.  She went on to have a career in nursing working at St. Luke’s Hospital, serving as a school nurse, as well as teaching and advising nursing students.  She retired in the early 2000s.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Judge William Richard Eads on September 7, 1957 in Primghar.  To this union, two daughters were born.

She is survived by her daughters Carolyn (David) Leese of Allen, Texas and Jennifer (Mark) Anderson of Eagleville, Pennsylvania; four granddaughters: Megan Leese (fiancé Darren Simoes) of Phoenix, Arizona; Jennifer (Brian) Bailey of Gilbert, Arizona; Katie (Rafael Kennedy) Anderson of Washington D.C.; and Sarah Anderson of Eagleville, Pennsylvania; and two great-grandchildren: Jacob and Ava Bailey.

Also surviving are two sisters: Elizabeth Haygreen of Lewes, Delaware and Lillian Baker of Knoxville, Tennessee; cousin Anna Mary (Ron) Pauley of Wisconsin; as well as many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge William R. Eads, in 2013; her parents; sister Anna O’Brien; and her beloved dogs Archie, Teddy, and Emmy.
