Sand Bar Beach will never be the same without seeing Charlene's smiling face and stories the first Saturday in June every year. I was shocked to hear of her passing but bet she is up there with the angels sharing geneology history. I will miss her so much. My prayers go out to all of the family. I was shocked and saddened to read of Char's passing. I had just written her a letter to express my deep appreciation for the wonderful class reunion she had pulled together for our 64th class reunion. She has kept our class together for many years. What a wonderful caring person she was but evidently God decided he needed her more than we did. She will make a beautiful angel. My toughts and prayers are with all of her family. I had intended to get to the services but the doctor told me I had to stay home because of some infusions I am getting. I received a letter from her yesterday and will treasure it the rest of my life. Char I'll miss you more than words can say. May you find peace and joy in heaven with our God. Love you. Verla

I was so saddened when I heard about the passing of my high school classmate, Charlene. What a great person, and most especially to our 1950 graduating class from McKinley High School. Just 2 weeks ago she hosted our 65th class reunion and did a fantastic job. She has been keeping records of our class for all of these years and presented papers to us with names, addresses, etc.on it. She really kept our class together for these 65 years Her passing was such a shock. My love and thoughts are with all of her family and friends.

I was very saddened when I was told that my aunt had passed away. I have many happy memories growing up and visiting my aunts, uncles and cousins in Cedar Rapids. As we have all moved out so far from our center it is difficult to be able see everyone as often as we could wish. My heartfelt sympathies go out to my Aunt Charlene's family. It was much too soon and so unexpected.

I am very sorry to read that Charlene has passed. This lady took a chance 30 years ago hiring me as a summer hire while I was still attending Kirkwood College. I was divorced with two small children trying to better my life and my kids' lives. I will be FOREVER indebted to Charlene for starting my government career. My condolences to her family.
