Mary Kathryn Ritchie, 84, a resident of Keystone Cedars died there on Saturday November 28, 2015 with her family by her side. Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Rev. Phil Thompson will officiate. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday where there will be a vigil service at 4:00 PM. Friends may also call at the Church after 9:00 AM on Friday.

Survivor include a son Phil of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Anne (Dr. Mike) Kincaid of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jane (Doug) Wilson of Ankeny and Ellen (Jim) Holm of West Lafayette, Indiana. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Matthew, Sam and Josh Kincaid; Drew, Emily and Kristin Wilson; and Ryann, Erinn and Cailynn Holm; a brother Tom (Cathy) Cummings and a sister Margaret (Clarence) Lanigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John and an infant daughter Maryann.   

Mary Kay was born on September 4, 1931 in Waterloo the daughter of Edward and Mary Beck Cummings. She graduated from High School in Waterloo and later from the Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque.

 Mary Kay married Dr. John Ritchie on August 11, 1956 in Waterloo and resided in Chicago for several years. John passed away in 2013. Her nursing career included private nursing, the V. A. Hospital in Iowa City, Hallmar, Hospice and was the office nurse for her husband in his Podiatry practice for many years. 

Mary Kay was a faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and volunteered at Hospice. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, travel with her husband John and was an avid Chicago Cub’s fan. Her greatest joy however was her family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial donations may be given to the Mercy Hospice House or to the Community Health Free Clinic.
