Dear Ones, you won't know me but I want you to know how deeply I fell for your loss. She was always there for me as a patient when she worked for Dr. Hendricks. After he retired she made sure I got the right doctor for my eyes. We shared many stories about our children. That is how I know she had a wonderful family Just know I will miss her too. You were blessed.

Al, Andrea, and David; so sorry to hear about Karen. I remember being a part of many Wallace family events and Karen and all of you being there. She always had such a wonderful smile and was so kind. I know you will miss her greatly, hold on to all of the wonderful memories. Mindi (Juel) Slaymaker

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for the great loss to your family. Karen was a very warm and gracious lady. I'm sure she will be greatly missed.

Al, David and Andrea, It was so sad to hear of your loss. Karen was an amazing woman in so many ways -- always cheerful, always kind, always helpful. But her most enduring quality was the love and pride she had for the three of you. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

To Al and the family--Sitting hear by Westgate thinking of all the memories of Karen and the bunch at St. Peter Lutheran in Westgate many years ago !! Good times. Won't run into the Bachmans on the bus at the bowl game in Florida anymore. RIP KAREN....... Dennis

I want to extend my most sincere sympathy to Karen's family. I knew her for many years through Dr. Hendricks and Arcade Opticians/A Perfect Pair. My 85 year old mother always insisted on "unique" glass frames, and we always found those for her there. She loved going there as everyone was so friendly and kind to her. Every time, they would engage her in a conversation about her dog, Boss, because they knew he was the love of her life. (And...she tended to have to go quite often for repairs because of her doing or the dog's!) Karen always had a very pleasant personality and a beautiful smile. I pray you find peace in the wonderful memories you must have. Linda Peterson

To the Bachman family, I was shocked and saddened to see that you lost your wife and mother. Since moving from Cedar Rapids we have lost touch but remember her as a wonderful person at our eye appointments at church and as a preschool parent when Andrea attended my preschool class. When our daughter was young she was impressed by Karen due to her being such a kind lady. Our sympathy goes out to you Al, David and Andrea

To the Bachman family: I knew Karen from Dr. Hendricks Office. I saw her once a year for almost 40 years. She always called me by name. Now that I see her daughter's name, I guess it would have been easier to remember mine. I truly believe she cared about each patient she helped. She always treated me like family and I was literally shocked to see it in the paper today. I offer my complete sympathy for your loss. She was truly a WONDERFUL woman and friend. I won't be able to make it to the visitation but I will be there in spirit. God's blessings to your family.

Al, Andrea, and David, I am so saddened about Karen's passing and am so very sorry for your loss. I loved her. I can remember her being in my life in one way or another for as long as I can remember anything I think. She was always so thoughtful and kind and interested in others. She always asked about my girls, and when they were younger had little work stations and goody drawers for them when they would come visit in the office. We will miss her dearly. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. With love, Shannon, Sydney and Lainey Ford

Al and Family I was so saddened to hear about Karen. She was such a fun gal, vivacious, happy, and smiling. Ted and I enjoyed her so much. Ted and Karen are probably now chatting about the fun times they had with the Staabs and Johansens. I share your sorrow and pray for healing days ahead. Sandy Ochs

David, I thought of Matthew when I read your Mom's obit in the paper this morning. I send my condolences and sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your Mom. I am sure your Mom and Matthew are having great conversations. Glad to be able to find that you are living in Urbandale and are married. Often wondered what happened to Matthew's friends. Again -- our sympathy to you and your family. Dan & Mary Dias ( Matthew Dias' RIP 5/2/1984 - 10/24/2008 parents)
