My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Roger. He was one the bright spots as my high school principal at South Tama. My favorite memory of him was running our version of the Olympic torch into the gym in full Greek attire. With faculty like him made me want to have my children educated in an atmosphere that he created there for me. He will be greatly missed.

I am sorry for the loss. I really enjoyed walking in a classroom and seeing Mr. Desmarais was the sub. It was always a treat for us when he subbed.

One of the best Teachers I have ever had. He loved his job, even being a sub, and he proudly showed it. My heart aches and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

Roger and Kay were dear neighbors and friends of my parents and I had the privilege of having Mr. Desmarais as my high school principal. He remained near and dear to our family and what joy it was to surprise him at his 90th party, with my father in tow. Precious memory. Prayers to the families and thanking God for the gift of eternal life. We will be reunited someday! I'm sure my mom and Kay have been chatting away!

My condolences to Bill, Karen, Colton and the rest of the family. I first met Roger while as student at Washington High school in the early 90’s, where Roger would occasionally substitute for or visit his son, Bill. Although I didn’t often get the opportunity to talk with him after graduating, I remember the passion he had for teaching and the sciences, and how he would always walk into a room with a smile. He will be missed.

I join with his family and friends in celebrating his life. I knew Roger as a fellow principal and an excellent substitute teacher. He was a gentleman, and always effective at what he did. He had the heart of a teacher which he demonstrated in his interactions with students. He made a difference. He was my friend. William C. Jacobson Educator.
