Derrick and Flecia,
It seems as we journey through life there are occasions when we encounter families that have figured out what is most important in life much earlier than their peers. You are indeed one of those families. Your focus is clearly on what will matter when time is no longer – on family – relationships – the next generation (and early in their young lives when – personalities - values – perspectives are still being formed) – building connections that are so vital during times of great loss and during celebration. Trusting that you both will be filled with strength beyond your expectations – comfort during the long span of dark quietness that settles in at the completion of each day’s task list and a bit of healing with each new dawn. Please know that both of you and your entire family are in the thoughts and prayers of the entire CHADCS Team.

Mom, you were most proud of your role as a mother. I could not have asked for anyone better than you to raise me, love me, and show me how to be a strong woman. You are my best friend and love you more than I can describe in words. My heart is breaking just knowing that I can't call you tonight to see how your day was, or swing by your house to chat for a bit. I will cherish these last few days we had - another lifetime of conversations, laughs, and tears. I know you will be with me forever in my heart and soul and look forward to the day I can hold your hand again. I will keep the promises I made to you - with everything I have. I love you Mom!
