My Grandmother -Dorothy Volz-went to Mabelline's every Saturday morning. I stayed overnight with her and always tagged along. Charles and Dean were always SO sweet to me as annoying as I must have been as a kid in the way. Charles would always sing "My Dianne-…..your a vision….." He truly always made me feel so special. Janice and family-I am so sorry for your loss. Dianne Dahl Peoria, AZ

Charles, Donna and Abraham family, I just heard of the new of the passing of your father. My heart goes out to you folks. I always remembered seeing him, as he was waving me hello or goodbye when I would be at the stables. God Bless you all.

Janice - my heart goes out to you and your family! I will never forget your husband - AKA - cousin Charles! He was a great man and will be missed by many! He is resting now peacefully in heaven but know that he is looking down at you, your children and all the grandchildren with a BIG BIG smile. God bless you Janice! Much love - Matt and Nicole Nassif

Dear Cousin Janice, Leena and I share our prayers and feelings with you and your family.Kim

To Dr Charles Abraham, Jr and the entire Abraham family. We send our most sincere sympathy and condolences on the passing of Charles Sr.

Jeffrey,Jeannete & family So very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all your family.

In reading all these messages I see the common thread...Charles, or Chuck, Abraham, if you will, was a wonderful and lovely man; devoted to his family and his church and his friends. I thought the world of him. In 1956 on September 29 he did my hair for my wedding to Kaye Keister. Our children grew up together. Our lives touched many times. He was so easy to talk to. When he asked, "How are you, or how are things going," you knew that he cared about the answer - not just being polite. This world will miss him very much but the other side has been waiting for him with open arms. For he is now in heaven where he belongs. God bless his family, Janice and Kimberly and his wonderful sons and all of the grandchildren. An incredible family with the incredible Father that loved them all forever and always!

To the Abrahams and the entire gang, I enjoyed reading the story about Charles and his life. I have never met him but it certainly explained why I think the world and all of his family. As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I hope you all are enjoying this time in thinking back at all of the great memories he leaves behind. He seems like a great person, and knowing his family, a cool dude. Randy

To Kim, Clay , Lindsay, JC, Charles, Donna and Chip- you guys are all in our thoughts and prayers during this time. May you cherish your memories and hold them close. xoxo Naomi, Shawn, Braxton and Anthony Leonard

I will never forget his kindness toward my grandmother Louise Mackey. She had a brain aneurysm 2 weeks before my wedding 20 years ago. This involved shaving her lovely white hair and her first stop out of the hospital was Mabeline's. He fitted her with a beautiful wig styled perfectly and people who didn't know the whole story were none the wiser. God bless you, Mr. Charles!

To my sweet cousin Janice: I am sending my love and energy your way. I think of you and the long difficult journey you have been on. It is like you said, you lose them two times. My heart is with you and the family. I love you very much. Love cousin Judith Ann

Sending our prayers and love to Janice and all the Abraham family. We know personally how difficult it is to slowly lose a loved one over a long period of time. Charles touched so many lives in so many ways. May all your happy times and memories help to heal your broken hearts. Memory Eternal!

I first met Charles 42 years ago, along with B and Mabel. (My mother went to Mabeline's since I was a boy and we always parked outside very near the bank). Later, I became a new officer at First Trust & Savings Bank and just getting to know the customers and neighbors. Charles was a very open, warm and welcoming person and made me feel very comfortable. He was always a pleasure to be with. Later on, the Bank bought out the Abraham property, and my loan department and the drive-up was constructed on the site. Fond memories of good times and good people. My sympathies to the family- Charles was a true gentleman.

To ALL the Abraham Family, We are so sorry about the loss of Charles. He was an amazing, caring man with the best outlook on life! Always a kind word, and a smile on his face. Heaven is a lot more fun with him there. Always know how much he was loved by me and my kids. You are an amazing family, and our prayers are with you. Melanie, Barney, Sam, and Molly O'Donnell

As a very young girl my first job was at Mabeline's. The Abraham family was a gift to me. I learned many things working with them. Charles had the best outlook every single day and seemed to always have a vision of what he wanted to do and how to make things better. He was kind, made you feel like you belonged, and made his clients feel like they were walking the red carpet. I think we are all fortunate that Charles Abraham had 82 yrs of life and he crossed our path in one way or another. Sending my condolences to all of you.

Jeff, Janice, and Abraham family, I was sorry to read of Charles' passing but I know the struggles there have been for the last couple of years. Losing someone we love is so very difficult, but perhaps the most difficult is having to watch the ones we love fail so. My heart goes out to you all. Charles will be sorely missed by so many beyond his loving family. Mabelline's and now Jeffrey Scott Salon has been a very familiar part of my life for many years, starting when Mabelline's was right next to the old First Trust Bank. Wishing all of you prayers and loving thoughts as you grieve. Hoping all of yourcherished memories will help you heal. Sue Medberry

To: Charles/Donna,Kim/Clay,Terrence/Tammy,Jeff/Jeanette, and Chris/Lisa, The Davis family is sending there condolences to this wonderful family that I have grown to love as my own. Mr. Charles was a family friend that went back to my great grandmother who used to say he was the only one that could do her wigs right. I met him when I was in highschool, as I used to make my trips to Dounutland on Mt. Vernon Rd and Maybelline being next door and him saying does your grandma know that your not in school. I would turn around and go back to school sometimes not even getting my dounut. I would see Chris later on in school and tell him that his dad caught me again with a laugh. Mr. Charles was the sweetess man I know always greeting me and my family with a hug and or handshake. Continued blessing to the family knowing that Mr. Charles has gone on to a better place, where his body has departed this world but his spirit will live on in all of you, stay strong knowing he has his wings and is watching with that big smile on his face. Love you guys much The Davis Family.

Kim and the Abraham family, Please know how truly heartbroken I was to hear of Mr. Abraham"s passing. I was so saddened that he battled that horrific disease. Mrs. Abraham, you were truly amazing to him always and at that time. I know you barely left his side. I will always remember him with the most amazing, sweet, kind, genuine smile on his face. He always went out of his way to say "Hi" to me. He had a way of making everyone feel special. My heart and soul hurts for your loss. He made the world a better place. I'm honored to say I knew Mr. Abraham. Sending you hugs and prayers in the days, weeks, and month ahead. He lives behind a beautiful legacy , HIS FAMILY! What a blessing he was.

To Janice and all of the Abraham family, The Richardson family has had a long and endearing relationship with the Abrahams from riding horses at 5-B, sharing a love for the outdoors and country living, to appreciating the personal attention each of us has received for so many years as customers of the friendliest beauty shop in Iowa. Charles was a person who easily welcomed a new friend into his life and was loyal to that relationship forever. His passing is a loss for so many but his legacy will be deeply ingrained in this area for a long, long time--represented by one of the nicest, most loyal and genuine families we have had the privilege of knowing. We will miss paying tribute to Charles this coming weekend because our family will be honoring our mother/grandmother/great grandmother at the same time, also a victim of Alzheimers. Please know that our arms are around all of you. Sarah and Moe Richardson

Chuck always made my day a little brighter when I had the opportunity to visit with him at the salon or on the occasions he joined "the boys" for dinner. I liked to kid Chuck I doubted the authenticity of his Lebanese heritage given his calm and gentle nature. When I think of Chuck I recall a man who loved his family and served his country, church and community with a selfless attitude and quiet efficiency. Doug Nassif

After my Mother's chemotherapy and the loss of her hair, she went to Mr. Abraham for answers to her many questions and a wig selection. He was empathetic, charming and informative, and made my Mother feel beautiful again. I imagine that he did this many, many times with many women. Mr. Abraham was a great business man with a compassionate heart. I send my condolences to his family and friends.

The passing of Mr. Abraham is very sad and we would like to send our condolences to the entire family. As a husband, father and grandfather he will be sorely missed by all of you. But we hope your fond memories and the peace of knowing that he's in a better place will bring you comfort. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless you all.

Condolences to you all on the loss of a really great man.I knew Charles as I use to run around with Dean in school.Charles would come out to the Marriott for different functions and would always stop and talk to me for awhile and we'd talk about old times. One thing I always think about is when Charles was building his house,I worked at Marion Cashway and hauled some material out to him.It was really muddy and I got stuck pretty good in the front yard.Charles came out,saw what had happened and we both had a good laugh about it.He always seemed to care about his fellow man and I don't think he ever met anyone who didn't like him.May he rest in peace and may we all remember him for years to come.

Jeff, Dean and family, We were so sorry to learn of Charles passing. He was a wonderful person and always had a smile on his face. Charles and your families will be in our thoughts and prayers. Terry and Patricia Himes - Lake City, Iowa
