Barry Dennis Schenkelberg, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday October 10, 2014 from a sudden Illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15 at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Phil Thompson. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Alison, his parents, his children; Todd, Paul, Shaun, Heidi, Eric and Meagan, his siblings; Marlene, Karen, Robert, Carrie and Patrick. Also surviving are eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, James.
Barry was born October 15, 1943 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Clayton and Alithea. He married Alison Milligan McGarvey on October 27, 1979 in Orlando, Florida. Barry retired from the United States Navy in 1982 as a Chief Electronics Technician and later was employed at Duane-Arnold Energy Center. He was a member of St. Pius X. He volunteered at the church and Mercy Hospital.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
