I am very saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I came to know Joe when I was in purchasing at Ryan & Associates. He was a very great person and friend,so kind to show me around Schimberg when I came to the warehouse. I could tell he was more of a friend to his employees but a Boss too. My Prayers and Thoughts are with all of your family.

Early on in my career, Joe Schimberg impressed upon me that our industrial business dealings could be more than just dollars and mechanical hardware. He made it very clear that he cared about the actual people involved, and always inquired as to whether he and his team could do anything better. The world would be a better place with more people like Mr. Joe Schimberg, as he set the bar very high for serving and caring.

My deepest sympathy to the Schimberg family. It was a pleaure to work with such an honorable man. Kind thoughts and great memories to the Schimberg family.

Lynda - Having known you and Joe since the 1950's I have so many memories that have come to me since I heard this very very sad news about your loss of Joe, the kindest most gentle person I have ever known. Joe always thought of others first, always thought of all as children of God and seemed always to be seeking a way to help out. He never wanted credit or spoke of himself but it is rather his legacy that will shout out his selfless deeds forever. Joe's humble ways, his beaming grin and his love of his family will always last in my memory. I want to know why he has been taken from us all but I know why...it is truly because God wanted him to come be with Him as reward for all the selfless and wonderful things he did for so many while he lived here with us. Our thoughts are with you, your entire family and all who will miss this Gentle Man of God. Peace to you, from John and Jodi Morrow

He was always a kind man - caring about his employees not just as workers - but as people. I will always be grateful for the time I had with him and with his father, Chuck. May you find peace in the days ahead as you cherish the memories.

Mike has know Joe since childhood. I met Joe 40 years ago when I moved to Iowa as a new bride. He was one of the first people to make me feel welcomed at All Saints. A very kind and gentle man. We ran into many people over the years who knew Joe from the Schimberg Company or La Salle and they always shared stories of his work ethic and moral compass. We will truly miss Joe and our prayers go out to the Schimberg Family. "When you get to the end of all the light you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly!" The past several years I have had the privilege and honor of working with Joe on several committees and projects at All Saints, which allowed me the chance to get to know him better. I'll never forget the day he told me to "stop calling him Mr Schimberg and to call him Joe." That meant a lot to me, since I have known him since a was a child. He was a great father to his kids, a leader in business and his personal life, a mentor and a friend. He will be missed. Our prayers will continue to be with his family.

Dear members of the Schimberg family, My heart is deeply saddened by the passing of Joe. If I had to look back on life and pick five men who had contributed to the well-being of Church, family, friends and the community as a whole, Joe would be at the top of my list. Joe was a truly respectable man with wonderful personal attributes. He was a natural leader in virtually any situation or community. His unceasing devotion to God and family were truly amazing and were the foundation of his ability to lead. Joe was very different than most in that he was rock solid genuine with a heart that seemed to understand challenges and differences and valued them as necessary to problem resolution. I remember Joe as an extremely positive influence on the life and people of All Saints Church. He was a true gentleman with an endearing smile and gentle manner. I thank God for his dedication and service and say with firm resolve"His was a life well-lived".

I had to move away and we vowed to meet again. I had the privilege of that meeting last April after 54 years. It was wonderful talking old television shows with Joe and Lynda and all the things that have happened since that summer in 1960. Deep condolences to the entire family.

May you take solace in knowing how proud he must be of his family. I hope the sadness soon gives way to gratitude and happy memories. Take care.

II Corinthians 1:3-4 says “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” He is the Comforter. He is Peace. He is Love. He is all you need Him to be. We are praying fervently for your family. Please let us know if there is anything you need. A bell cow in the Catholic community removes its burden and heads for eternal rest. The gold standard in support of Catholic Education now shines in the Grace of God. It takes lots of special fittings to piece together a faith pipeline and Joe had them all. Whether it was faith, family or country, there was no better example for living than Joe. Many of a younger generation found the path easier because his willingness to be the bell cow. And the Xavier Catholic System would not have blossomed without roots in good soil and the gold standard support of Joe. Finally, a lot of different things piece together life, not unlike a plumbing system having many joints and fittings. Joe did without any drips or leaks, always the "right fit" for the task in front of him. Thanks for the leadership, for the striving; for being a solid foundation for others to build upon. May all the holy men, holy women, Saints and angels gather you into the arms of God's eternal Grace. Well done, you good and faithful servant! As friends and family gather, do part some of the sadness with celebration of all that Joe did in life.

Rick and I send prayers, sympathy and comfort to the Schimberg family. We are deeply saddened by Joe's loss. The best memory of Joe which captures the essence of who he was occurred during the dedication of the Schimberg Healing Garden at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center. I will never forget his words of inspiration and advice about the importance of faith and family. He will be missed but not forgotten.

We are keeping your family in our prayers. James and Barb

Schimberg family-- I was so sorry to read about Joe's death. I previously worked at Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa and met Joe when he joined our board. His smile and kindness could light up a room. You could sense the passion for life whenever you talked with him. I ran in to Joe this summer at Hy-Vee and he recognized me after several years, which I was impressed by. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are sent out to your family. May you remember all the fond memories of him and hold on to those for the years to come.

To all the Schimbergs, I have known Joseph since I was a little girl when he was "Mr. Schimberg" to me. The kindness, caring and patience showed to this rowdy little girl was boundless. I always felt so welcomed in your home and remember admiring what a strong and united family I was around with the palpable love (and good cooking) in your home. Joe always had time and patience and good humor to cart us girls around and he really treated us like little big people. What a wonderful quality in a father. He is a special soul. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Erin
