Opal and Bill were the best neighbors a young guy could've ever had. I moved in next to Opal and Bill and spent nine wonderful years 8 feet away from them on Oakland Rd. I never had anything to worry about, because they were always watching over me (and visa versa). Opal was always so generous and so giving - even if she was joining in with Bruce Creel to pick on me! She had a wonderful sense of humor. Bill once got oil on his clothes and asked me to launder them, because he "didn't want to get in trouble!" Opal found out later and laughed and laughed at that story! Opal could cook anything on her grill! It was wonderful to come back to the old neighborhood after I got married, moved away, and had a daughter. Opal always had time for a visit or a talk. My daughter thought she was a wonderful grandma! Opal was the very heart of that neighborhood and a wonderful person who I will sincerely miss! She was indeed a saint!

Ps.116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death on his saints. Auntie Opal was a true saint who had committed her life to the Lord. She is now rejoicing in his presence. She holds a special place in our hearts. She was a dear sister-in-law. She was the maid of honor at our wedding. We will remember her for her love for the Lord, family, friends, her kindness to all, and her gentle spirit.. We never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. It is with much regret that we can't be there to support you at this difficult time. We love you.

Ron, Bob and Don and families...Opal will be missed by many, she touched many lives. We shared many talks. She was a great example of faith and prayer, she loved God and her family, it showed. She was so gentle and kind. I'll miss my weekly talks with her. She was such a blessing and so loved by all who knew her. Gene will miss stopping by for a chat with her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time, so hard to let go. Mary and Gene

Ron, Jennifer and family: Our deepest sympathy in you loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. For her soul now dwells in the house of tomorrow, a place you cannot visit. You will forget-her-not for she has made a mark on your hearts. Bernie and Deb

Opal and her family lived next door to my grandparents, Raymond & Marge Woodward. As far back as I can remember, when we would visit the Faas family was an essential part of every trip. We have many home movies of our visits to Cedar Rapids - all including Opal, Bill, and family. Condolences to the Faas family at the loss of a great lady!

A faithful Saint has gone to her joy and reward. The Woodwards (my parents) lived next door to the Faases from the time they moved to 935 Oakland Road NE in Cedar Rapids. We had instant love for Opal, Bill and their boys. Paul spent a lot of time on our back drive with our family. They couldn't have been better neighbors through the sixty years or so our families knew each other...always caring and doing for us and others in the neighborhood and community. We loved to spend time together at the piano playing and singing and each giving praise to our God through music. Surely Opal has left a great example and impression on many as she has on our family -- in her quiet, gentle and valiant faithful way. She will rejoice at her greeting as a 'good and faithful servant'. We are grateful for her in our lives. Our thoughts are with her family and 935 Oakland Road NE next to our bungalow at 925 will never seem the same. Thanks for such a woman.

Thinking of all the family at this difficult time, Auntie you were the best, always had that great smile and you were always there for all of us anytime. I Love you so much and you made so many memories for me to hold in my heart, I will miss you, I bet you mom and merie are having quit a time up there. May you rest in peace great lady.
