Opal R. Faas, 90, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 21, 2014.
A funeral service celebrating Opal’s life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. David Carrick of CR Grace Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Survivors include her three sons, Robert (Deborah) Herdlicka of Cedar Rapids, Donald (Loni) Faas of Warsaw, IN and Ronald (Jennifer) Faas of Cedar Rapids; Grandchildren, Amy (Jerry) Hogan, Paula (Raymond) Dix, Rob (Heather) Herdlicka, William (April) Faas, Meghann (Eric) Claussen, Hillary (Craig) Locker, Amanda (Nick) Larson, Ashley Faas and Olivia Faas; also surviving are 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Robert Herdlicka, 2nd husband William Faas, son Paul Faas, 2 sisters and a brother.
Opal R. Shine was born July 7, 1924 in Victor, Iowa the daughter of Bryan and Pearl (Walton) Shine. She married Robert Herdlicka in 1946 and he died in 1947. She then married William H. Faas at North English, Iowa on April 9, 1950. Opal worked in the kitchen for several years at Washington High School and was a member of CR Grace Church. She enjoyed being with her family especially her grandchildren.
