Evelyn M. Fisher, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Marion passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Park Place Care Center, Mt. Pleasant.

A Gathering celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Evelyn was born on October 21, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Frank L. and Hazel M. Berry.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945.  At 19, she was chosen Miss Cedar Rapids at the Policemen’s Ball of 1946.  She married Richard Kemp in 1948 and they were later divorced.  She worked for Alpha Crushed Stone in Marion from 1966 to 1972.  She married Doyle E. Fisher in April of 1972 and went onto retire from Marion Mixers in 1983.  Evelyn and Doyle enjoyed traveling, grandchildren, friends, and spending time at their trailer in Lund’s Camp south of Harpers Ferry on the Mississippi River.  After her husband’s death in 2004, she remained active in the Marion community.  In 2009, Evelyn moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to live with her daughter Barbara.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; a sister, Maxine Cannady; niece, Sandra Bauer and nephew, Frank Beers.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara (Paul) Anderson of Mt. Pleasant; son, Gary (Myrna) Fisher of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Gayle (Bloyce) Johnson of West Des Moines.  Also surviving by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Philip (Jonna) Anderson, Chase and Lane, Brian (Chivonne) Anderson, Sydney and Sam, David (Heather) Fisher, Elise and Ryker, Steve (Heather) Johnson, Collette, and Sandi (Kristen) England.

A memorial fund has been established.
