I was sorry to hear of Mrs. Santon's passing. I have great memories of the Santon household in the early 1970s, when Mrs. Santon would watch my sister Kris and I when our Mom had to work. There was the unlimited fresh-baked cookies, of course. But she also used to help me put on Eric's skates and roller skate in the basement. And take a sofa cushion, get a running start, and ride the cushion like a sled down the hallway---she'd tell me I was helping her dust. It's true, her house was always very clean and well-ordered. But not because I was sliding down her hallway on a sofa cushion, but because she took pride in her home. I just have such good memories of that gracious lady and her warm laugh, who seemed to enjoy having my sister and I as much as we enjoyed being with her. Helen Santon was one of a kind. I wish peace to Eric, Diana, Margot and Kristie, and all of Mrs. Santon's friends and family, who are grieved by her loss.

Mrs. Santon often took care of me when I was a preschooler and my mother had work or obligations. When I think of her, many fond memories flood my mind. The fresh smell of soap, the taste of animal crackers and the joy of carrying one of those sweet circus boxes they came in, Gun Smoke on TV, and the satisfaction of putting stickers into the right spot in the coloring/sticker book she had bought me. The station wagon she drove us in and the amazement that the garage was under the house like Batman's batmobile cave. The time I spent with her are treasured memories of a little girl. Her generous, consistent, and caring manner influenced who I was at 3 and who I am now. She was a regal lady who instantly had my respect and who quickly earned my trust. She will be missed. Condolences to the wonderful family that she left behind. - Kristen (McClain) Johnson

Mark and I send our condolences to the Santon and Gard families. Helen's passing brought a flood of memories to Mark, of life on Belmont Pkwy., and at Calvary Baptist Church. A rich history on both accounts. Lifting all in prayer. ~Patti and Mark Lortz
