Michael R. Allen, 59, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday August 11, 2014 in his home. Memorial Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. David Renfro. Inurnment at a later date in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. A visitation will be held on Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 4-7 p.m.
Survivors include his children; Glen Allen and Heidi Allen both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his mother, Faye Allen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his sisters; Becky Allen Kearney, Nebraska, Penny Allen and Pam Allen both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his step children; Rob Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Jim Martin of Burlington, Iowa, his former wife and friend, Marie Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his aunts, Treva Lehn, Cheryl Ansbach both of Kearney, Nebraska and Naomi Brown of Fallon, Nevada, his grandchildren; Austin, Trenton and Octavious. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Warren Allen, his uncles and aunts, Richard and Bev Allen, Wayne Brown, Terry Ansbach and Hilda Caserio.
Michael was born January 31, 1955 in Burwell, Nebraska, the son of Robert W. and Faye Allen. He married Marie Sullivan in Cedar Rapids. They later divorced and remained friends. Michael was employed by the Cedar Rapids School System as a Building Engineer. He enjoyed fishing, football and spending time with his grandsons and ferrets.
A memorial fund has been established for the family in lieu of flowers.
