On Saturday, March 16, 2024, Carla Rich, age 69, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. There will not be any services.
Carla was born on October 28, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She attended Jefferson High School and obtained her high school diploma from Kirkwood. She furthered her education and obtained her LPN Nursing degree from Hawkeye Technical Institute. She dedicated her career to caring for many people through the years working at several nursing homes, and VA Hospital and Clinics. Carla’s caring for people will be greatly missed by many.
She loved spending free time with her family and making huge dinners for her family that was enough food to feed the entire neighborhood. She made the best tenderloins and flatbread tacos around. One of her favorite pastimes was playing slots machines all night at the casinos. She was very witty, and it showed when she played word scrambles and assembled jigsaw puzzles. You rarely saw her without her Diet Coke in her big mug and her love for coke was evident in her Coca Cola collection.
Carla was survived by her son Joshua (Julie) Rich; son Justin (Sandy) Rich, daughter Crystal Rich, son Richard Rich, son Colin Rich, daughter Lea Rich, and son Dwan Rich. Carla will be greatly missed by her nine grandchildren. Also survived by her parents Jenny and Bob Miller, sister Carrie (Dan) Ohrt, and brother Brad (Denise) Hall. Carla was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Rich and her significant other, David Green.
