Jim, Matt and family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Her struggle is over. Remember the good times and precious events you shared with her. God bless you all. Greg & Scott Smith

Have known Monica & Jim through St. Wenceslaus Church for years. She has always been a "shining light" sitting in the back of the church and am sure she will continue to shine up in heaven. Our prayers and sympathy go to Jim & the rest of the Piersall family. God's love & many blessings to all....!!!

I had the distinct pleasure of getting to Monica as a P.E.O. sister. She always offered comforting words of encouragement at just the right time and we shared a love of planting flowers each spring. As I think of Monica and lift your family up in prayer, Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds me of the many seasons I'm thankful to have shared with such a dear sister. "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven"

So very sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to your family.

The Piersall family—- So very sorry for your loss of Monica. I worked with Monica in several elementary schools—- Monica had the biggest heart for all students and made sure their needs were met. Hold your good memories close to your hearts—- Monica is at peace in heaven. You are in my prayers—- Carol Olson

Dear Jim and family, Monica's smile in this photo is so typical of her. Warm, sweet, caring, giving, selfless are only a few of the adjectives that describe her. Whether I had a chance to chat with her when she came to Pak Mail to have us ship something for her, or when she came to drop off something special for a gift basket that our P.E.O. chapter was filling for one of our project recipients, or when her health allowed her to be at one of our P.E.O. meetings, she brought light with her. Her conversation never centered on herself but filled with concern and thoughts of others. Though we are assured that she is "home," I do wish she hadn't gone so soon. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be at her service today, but you are in my thoughts and prayers. Chris Fredrickson

I had the pleasure to work with Monica at Cedar Rapids Community School Health offices. Monica was always there for her students and her colleagues and was available when anyone needed a question answered. Her warm smile and greeting every time we met. She was very compassionate and very approachable as well. Her colleague Margaret Berg and Monica were two of the nurses that helped train many of us in the health office. Both of them were beyond excellent nurses, and mentors as well. My condolences and prayers to her family on the loss of Monica.

We are so very sorry for your great loss…I met Monica many times over the years while visiting my sister Edna. She was always so kind and gentle which is a true Brunkhorst trait. We will keep you all in our prayers during this sad time.

Jim and family, very sorry for your loss. Monica had touch many hearts in her journey of life. true blessing Jim, of 52 year of marriage. Lisa & Tim Hinricher

Our prayers and love to the entire family at this most difficult time. The Lord has a special place for your wife and mother. Heaven has a new angel.

I worked with Monica at Roosevelt MS for many years. She was the "goat" of school nurses. She went above and beyond for so many students. What a blessing she was to students but also people lucky enough to have known her. My condolences and thoughts to her family during this difficult time. Cindy Frese

I worked with Monica at one of the many schools she worked at. She was a wonderful woman. She cared about everyone. She was so supportive. Heaven has gained another angel.

We are very sorry to hear about Monica. She was one of the finest people I ever knew. God Bless you and your family.

I was shocked and saddened to see Monica‘s picture in the obituary page today. She welcomed me with open arms when we moved here in 1980. She always greeted me with a smile and was genuinely interested in me and my family. She shared the same interest with all of the students she cared for. I was blessed to see her almost every day when we were both at Washington High School. She touched the lives of many. I am very sorry for your loss. Mary Crandall.

I haven’t seen Mrs. Piersall for many years so I didn’t know anything about her health. She was a very nice and accomplished woman. Please accept my sympathy.

To Monica's Family, Our deepest sympathy at the loss of Monica. Be sad for a while then rejoice that Monica's soul is free- she is with the God she chose to love and serve here on earth. So many loved ones waiting for her with welcoming arms. Her love will live in the hearts of everyone who was privileged to have shared time with her. God bless all of you with peace and comfort.
