Edwin Andre Vassar Jr., aged 60, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held at New City Church on Sunday, April 14, 2024, 5:00-7:00pm. A funeral service at the church will follow on Monday, April 15, 2024, 11:00am. Interment at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

He was born on July 27, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edwin Andre Vasser Sr. and Gwendolyn Kates. Edwin was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1981. He proudly served as a surveyor in the Army and later pursued a career at Farmstead Foods. Passionate about entrepreneurship, Edwin ventured into independent construction, showcasing his talent for working with his hands and his knack for numbers.

His infectious smile and charm illuminated every room he entered. Edwin was an avid basketball enthusiast, enjoyed music, and found joy in cooking. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and laughter.

Edwin is survived by his beloved wife, Antoinette Vassar, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and his children: Taveon (Kat) Vasser of Sussex, Wisconsin; Natasha (Imer) Ajeti; Chris Vasser both of Cedar Rapids; Andre (Danielle) Vasser III of Oklahoma; Ethan (Ellie) Vasser; and Elijah (Karissa) Vasser of Minnesota. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.

He is also survived by his father, Edwin Vasser Sr., and siblings: Raymond (Dina) Vasser, Kenny (Kim) Vasser, Chavon Vasser, and Stephanie Vasser. Edwin was preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn Kates, stepmother, Georgia Vasser, and siblings Sonya Vasser, nephews Ramone Vasser, and Martez Ceasar.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund at BMO bank, under Edwin Vassar Memorial Fund.

Edwin will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
