What a sweet and talented lady, give her a piece of cloth and some thread and she could make anything. Worked with her for many years and it was a joy to know her.

My family used Ikuko’s great talents starting in the early 80’s for decades. After my Mom’s passing this month in 2002, my in-laws (Smithson, Cedar Rapids) used her “alteration gifting” for years. I remember dropping off items & picking them up with my mother during my Junior High & High School years. My enduring memory of her was her simple sweetness & kindness — qualities in rare quantity these days. She made the world of those she knew brighter.

I knew Ikuko when I worked at Armstrong's Department Store, she worked there also. Ikuko was a talented seamstress, who made many costumes for me in the 1980's, for which I would like to say thank you. She was a lovely lady. My deepest sympathy, Linda McNamara Earley
