Jay Edward Daly, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday September 18, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 7, 2017 in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese will officiate.
Jay was born June 21, 1941 in Mason City, Iowa, and graduated from Mason City High School in 1959. After serving in the Marines from 1960-1963, he attended Mason City Junior College and Hamilton College to become a professional accountant. He married Linda Helm on August 10, 1974. Jay was a manager of the original McDonalds in Mason City. He worked at Lehigh Cement while attending school. He was a cost accountant and finished his career in administration/ operations in the truck transportation industry.
Jay is survived by his wife, Linda, his sons, Michael (Emily) of Fairfax, Iowa, and David (Veo) of Parker, Arizona, his grandchildren; Ian, Ben and Sophia, sister, Deanna (Ron) Miner of Avon, Indiana, a brother, Tom (Lucille) Daly of Princeton, Massachusetts and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orra and Donald Daly, and sisters, Marilyn and Jeanette.
