Donald “Don” Wilson, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday August 18, 2017, in his home after a courageous battle from cancer.  Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a visitation will be held on Monday form 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Judith Wilson, his children; Terri (Jim) Hunt of Missouri, Linda Adney of Cedar Rapids, Dan Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jodi (Bob) Burke of Cedar Rapids, His grandchildren; Byron and Jeremy Hunt, Kristen (Chuck) Vail, Paris and Eli Adney, Danielle Adney and Brian (Becky) Burke, his great grandchildren; Lily, Brian, Charlie, Amanda Burke and James Vail. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, Jim (Dianna) Schumcher, Jan (Deb) Schumacher, Jeff (Kathy) Schumacher, Jeanne (Jim) Schumacher, and Jerry (Jane) Schumacher, his half-sisters; Deanne (Jim) Langdenberg, Toni (Roger Jepsen) and Barb (Jerry) Younge, sisters-in-law, Joan and Patty Schumacher.  

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hortense (Shorty) Nerison, step father, Ernie Nerison, father, Dean Wilson and brothers-in-law, Jack and Joe Schumacher. 

Don was born August 14, 1938 in Delphos, Kansas, the son of Dean and Hortense (Teed) Wilson and raised by his beloved father, Ernest Nerison. Don married Judith Schumacher on June 6, 1959 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He was employed at Cherry Burrell, that later became Evergreen for 43 years before retiring in September of 1999. Don enjoyed his retirement. He and Judith enjoyed traveling coast to coast and spent the last 10 years wintering in Florida. He had a passion for taking pictures of different subjects and teaching his beloved grand dog Charlie lots of tricks.
