Joan H. Corkin, 77, passed away peacefully in Joplin, Missouri on April 6, 2017 after a lengthy illness. She was born July 17, 1939 in Jackson, Nebraska. She graduated as Valedictorian of Jackson High School class of 1957, and married Robert F. Corkin in July of the same year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James L. Irby and Helen (Friend) Irby, her husband Robert F. Corkin Sr., and siblings Jim, Joy, and Lola.

Joan loved Jesus more than anything and looked forward to the day when she would spend forever with Him.  Her passion for the Lord touched every part of her life and her legacy of faith lives on in her children and grandchildren.  “Her children rise up and call her blessed.” –Proverbs 31:28

She enjoyed being involved in her church, listening to Southern Gospel music, watching sports, reading, and she loved a good laugh. She was happiest when she was able to spend time with her family which included children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
  
She is survived by her children Rick (Venda) Corkin of Lisbon, IA; Bob Jr. (Vicky) Corkin of Cedar Rapids, IA; Jan (Hank) Choens of Joplin, MO; Russ Corkin of Joplin, MO; Ron (Mary) Corkin of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Jacki (Steve) Sheffield of Denton, TX; grandchildren John (Jana) Zach, Joe (Danya) Corkin, Brad Zach, Josh Robinson, Bri (Dan) Best, Jeremy Choens, Sarah Zach, Brittany (Ben) Brannaman, Jessica (Cody) VanVactor, Ashley Corkin, Ryan Corkin, Mackenzie (Neal) deBuhr and Hayley Corkin; and thirteen great-grandchildren. 

Also surviving are her dear siblings John (Jean) Irby of Fargo, ND; Alma (Bill) Boston of Joplin, MO;  Bill (Cathi) Irby of Jackson, NE; Bob (Pat) Irby of Spencer, IA;  Don (Glenda) Irby of Loveland, CO;  Dennis (Denise) Irby of Kennewick, WA;  Linda (Don) Patton of Bellevue, NE;  and Larry Irby of Carthage, MO. 

Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.  Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
