RoseMary Agnes Rehberg, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Northbrook Manor Care Center.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a vigil service beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Entombment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  

RoseMary was born on April 24, 1932 in Earling, Iowa to Nicholas and Agnes (Kenkel) Leinen.  RoseMary was the ninth of ten children. She was the youngest of five girls. RoseMary graduated from St. Joseph High School in Earling, Iowa with the class of 1950. 

After high school, she moved to Omaha, NE., where she met her husband to be. RoseMary was united in marriage to Edward Joseph Rehberg, from Chicago Ill., on June 18, 1956 in Earling.  RoseMary and Edward lived in Chicago where she worked for Montgomery Wards.  Later, moving back to Omaha, RoseMary worked as an administrator assistant for Mutual of Omaha. In Omaha, RoseMary and Edward adopted their daughter Julie.  By 1965, the family was living in Cedar Rapids with their newly adopted son, James.  After her kids were grown, she worked in the kitchen at Harding Junior High School.

RoseMary was an active member of St. Pius X Parish for nearly 50 years. She loved and appreciated living near Noelridge Park and her neighbors that became lifelong friends. RoseMary enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling, golfing, dancing and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. RoseMary was a devoted, die-hard Cub fan. She dearly loved her family, friends and God.

She is survived by her children Julie Ann (Joseph) Ortis of Fairbanks, Alaska and James C. Rehberg of Cedar Rapids; three granddaughters: Tyse Adams of Cedar Rapids; Spring Ortis and Stevie Ortis of Fairbanks, Alaska; sister: Lavina Blum of Denison, Iowa; brother Alfred (Joan) Leinen of Earling, one great-grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

RoseMary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward in 2010; sisters: and brothers LaVerne Leinen, Leo Leinen, and Nicholas S. Leinen, Jr., and Edward Leinen of Harlan.

Memorials in RoseMary’s name may be made to the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department.
