Charles Thomas Marple, 80, of Cedar Rapids passed away at Meth-Wick Community on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  A private inurnment service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids on Monday, September 26th followed by a memorial service at 11am in the St. Paul’s sanctuary.  An informal reception will follow the service.

He is survived by a son Neal (Jane Rheem) Marple of Cedar Rapids; daughter Janelle Adams of Osage, Iowa; 4 grandchildren Ethan and Emma Marple; Rachael and Zach Adams; and a sister Trudie (Ed) Bigelow of Aurora, Colorado.  

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda Rae Marple in 2013, a sister Jo Hallberg and son-in-law Dave Adams.  

Charles Thomas Marple was born February 22, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Clifford and Theda (Anderson) Marple.  He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City and received his Bachelors of Science in Sociology in 1959 from the University of South Dakota.  He married Linda Rae Marple on August 1, 1964 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Together they shared 48 years of marriage.  Charles retired from Rockwell Collins after more than 30 years, and enjoyed his retirement years with family, friends, and his loving wife Linda.  Charles was a long-time and active member at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
