Elmer L. Kasey, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at his home onTuesday, May 17, 2016.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with a Celebration of Life with military rites at 6:00 pm. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Survivors include his daughter, Tona Kasey of Cedar Rapids, son, Scott Kasey of Cedar Rapids, son, Mike Kasey of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren, Samantha and Sabrina Kasey; sisters, Pauline (Richard) Boots, Judith Thomsen and Yvonne Kasey, all of Marion; brothers-in-law, Donald Monroe of Macon, GA and Marvin Krehbiel of Marion; also surviving are several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley in 2009, and two brothers, Arlass and George Kasey, sisters, Maxine Monroe and Janet Krehbiel. 

Elmer Lloyd Kasey was born January 24, 1937 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Arlass & Mary (Phillips) Kasey. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars serving in the U.S. Army. On June 7, 1963, he married Shirley Ann Warnock in Cedar Rapids. Elmer worked for 40 years at Rockwell-Collins as a quality engineer until retiring in 1992.
