Donald Ary, 96 a resident of the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center formerly of Coggon died Friday July 8, 2016 at the care center. Memorial services will be held at the United Parish in Coggon on Saturday July 16, at 11:00 AM. Inurnment in the Coggon Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two grandsons Timothy of Japan and Warren of Washington D.C.; 2 great grandsons Max, and Sean and a great granddaughter Anjela; two brothers- in-law Jay and Roger Eggers and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son Lawrence, a daughter Sharon, a brother Alvin and a sister Ruth.
Don was born on June 1, 1920 in Princeton, Illinois the son of Claude and Mary Howe Ary. He married Ruth B. Eggers on December 25, 1939 in Vinton. Ruth passed away in 2004.
Don was a long time farmer in the Coggon area. After retiring from farming he drove school bus for the Coggon Schools and later at North Linn. He and Ruth escaped the Iowa winters by going to Arizona for many years. He enjoyed helping on the farm part time and the time spent with his family and many friends.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice in Don’s name.
