Herbert C. Hansen, 92, of Cedar Rapids died Thursday January 21, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services at 11:00 AM on Monday at Hope Lutheran Church where friends may call after 9:00 AM on Monday. Rev. Daniel Clark-Bridges will officiate.
Burial with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Betty, two daughters, Sheila Hansen and Karen Pahl ( Brent ) all of Cedar Rapids, one aunt Elsie Swager of Wisconsin, a grandson Andrew (Cassie) Pahl and great grandson Jonathon of Amana, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Marvin and two sisters Marie Lowy and Helen Roney.
Herb was born on June 6, 1923 in Lake Mills, Wisconsin the son of Viggo and Katherine Kripshack Hansen. He married Betty J. Meyer on April 25, 1950 in Clinton.
Herb was a driver for Greyhound for over 33 years retiring in 1983. He was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church where he participated in their men’s group and the Fairfax American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and loved to drive. He proudly served in the Army during WWII.
Herb was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hope Lutheran Church.
