Miriam Martsolf Jones Morgan, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly on September 3, 2015.  A family gathering will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 10am at Meth-Wick in the Deer Ridge Building.

She was born on January 14, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, to Kenneth Karl Jones and Elsie May Martsolf Jones, the younger sister of Kenneth Karl Jones, Jr.

Mimi was homeschooled for many years due to delicate health but graduated from St. Michael’s School in Chicago at the top of her class. She attended the University of Arizona, where she received a degree in Spanish and Education. Her delicate beauty attracted photographers and clothing lines, but she preferred being a reference librarian at Northwestern Medical School in Evanston, Illinois, where she met a young medical professor named Donald Pryse Morgan. They were married in 1952 and made homes in Illinois and Arizona before finally settling in Iowa City in 1974.

Mimi was a devoted caregiver to her mother for many years, as well as a loving wife and mother. In later years, she returned to library work at the University of Iowa health sciences library. Don and Mimi moved to Meth-Wick retirement community in 1997, where they were active members.

Mimi loved studying her family genealogy and was proud of her Pilgrim heritage. She was a skilled knitter and quilter and showed her love with beautifully crafted sweaters, socks, and scarves. She loved to cook for her family, coming up with inventive and nutritious concoctions. She had a passion for books, from murder mysteries to Henry James, and loved nothing better than a day spent reading. She also loved to write letters. Mimi always put the needs of her family before her own. She will be dearly missed.

Mimi is survived by her children: David (Pat Langley) of Iowa City; Kenelm, of Iowa City; Bronwen (Jeff Zieba) of Berkeley, CA; and two grandchildren, Ben (Julie Freeman) of Chicago and Axel of Berkeley.
