Arlene, I am so sorry to hear about Larry. He always had a smile on his face and a happy go lucky guy. thinking of you! Sincerely, Amy Cejka

Jeff & Family, Very sorry to hear of Larry's passing. He was such an instrumental part of our lives growing up, which for us kids revolved around sports. Back in the late 70's as a Coach and the development of Hiawatha Youth Baseball & Metro Football programs (looking back now, what a commitment that was). Larry was devoted to all the athletics we were involved...suffered watching our Junior High games (rooting on the Smurfs) and Kennedy football where he would always offer a word of encouragement & proud support. Last time I saw Larry was at Twin Pines probably 10 years ago, but he had not changed a bit. Your father will be missed. He helped shaped the lives of so many through the love and dedication of Sports! Sincere Condolences to you and your family.

Arlene & family, Maggie called me about Larry's passing and we so wished we could have been there for you. We are thinking of you and will keep you in our prayers. So enjoyed the obituary....so nice to make it a tribute to the good things & to include a little humor too. (So like us Herman's, right?) May God bless you all & sustain you thru this time of loss. Love & Hugs, Norma Jeanne & Don

I hold so close the fond memories I have of the McGuire family! You have always been big supporters of me and my family. What special memories I have of drop off & pick up time during Peyton and Mallory's time at Montessori! Larry, Arlene and I solved all the worlds problems on a weekly basis!! I am grateful for that time and for your friendship! It was so great to visit with all of you at Larry's birthday party; SO special to have been invited! Sending love & prayers today and in the days ahead! Larry's legacy lives on! God Bless, Tracy

Arleen and Family; We are so sorry for you and your family. We were so happy you had Larry's 80 birthday party a month ago. This is a real surprise. I always enjoyed coaching with Larry in baseball and football. I know he was a real asset in forming a lot of young lives. He made a great Santa and we always enjoyed your hard work of putting together all the Santa bags. He will be missed. Jeff, thank you for being such a great son. I know he loved all three of you.

Arlene, I was so sorry to read of your loss. Please know that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you travel on this journey. What a blessing you both had, in sharing so many years together. Where there is deep grief, there was also deep love.

My family offers our deepest sympathy for the McGuire family. My father and his brother Jerry worked with Larry for several years with the IDOT. I was able to spend several years golfing with my dad at the annual tournament that Larry also took part in over the years. He was a great man and he will be missed!

Jeff, I was deeply saddened when my parents shared the news of your father's passing. He was my all-time favorite heckler during our days in the Iowa Valley League together.....and the one I took the most pride in "quieting" with a solid base hit up the middle! And who can forget him walking away with the trophy in the Best Legs contest at Williamsburg during the postgame 4th of July festivities! I miss those days and the fun we had together with him. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

Dear Arlene and to the family,I am so sorry to hear about Larry's passing.I will always remember the smile he always had on his face at the Shrine and Parading! Even thought it is with a heavy heart, keep your chin up Pie Lady!! :)

Arlene I sang at your wedding and grew up as a school chum of Larrys. He will be greatly missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have fond memories of from my years of attending school with Larry and Shirley, overnights at their home and visits to our house . My late brother Tom and Larry enlisted in the USAF together plus many other episodes. May time ease the loss of Larry.

Arleen and family, On behalf of Larry's Scottish-Rite Brothers, accept our sorrow at your loss, and allow us to share in the celebration of his life. It has been my pleasure to be associated with Larry for many years at many Masonic events. He was a dedicated Mason, and a good friend. His value to the Scottish-Rite was reflected in his coronation as a 33rd. Degree Mason. Larry did his part well. His home is now the Grand Lodge above. A house that is not built with hands. As that place is the destiny of all Masons we join with family and friends in remembering who he was and what he meant to us all. He precedes us which makes the anticipation of our own journey more meaningful. When we arrive, he will be there to greet us with his familiar smile. God Bless. William C. Jacobson P.R. Scottish Rite Valley of Cedar Rapids.

Steph So sorry to hear of your father's passing. May god grant you peace and comfort that only he can.

Although I've seen Larry and Arleen a few times through the years my memories always revert back to back when I was young and played ball with Jeff. In both Hiawatha Kids League and in Metro Youth Football I was lucky enough to play on many of Jeff's teams and got to meet his family, When Larry wasn't helping coach, he was always in the stands cheering us on. Through all the years and all the games I can't remember ever seeing Larry angry. Even as passionate and competitive as he was, he was always happy and positive to all the kids. I always felt a close bond with both Larry and Jeff and felt Larry treated me like his own son and would have helped me with anything if I needed it. My prayers go out to the family, he will truly be missed

I worked with Larry at Hall and Hall Engineers for a couple years. He would stop by my cubicle every day and make me laugh. His humor was legendary. All five of my brothers have/are serving in the Air Force. I will donate to an honor flight in his memory. Miss you Larry.

Larry was a unique individual. Always laughing, smiling and always ready for a good joke. He was always ready to volunteer his services at our 91st reunions. He was a loyal member of the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Wing Association and was proud of his service to his country. He loved the US Air Force and loved swapping 'old war' stories. He will be sorely missed at our future reunions but he will never be forgotten. I salute you, Larry, and know your with your maker telling him your 'old war' tales. God bless you and keep you.

Dear Arleen, Stephanie, Jeff and family, Thinking of you and sending my condolence and hugs across the miles, may the abundance of joyful memories and the knowledge that love never fades comfort and bring you strength. A life well lived is a life well spent and Larry's playful personality and sense of humor will always bring a smile to my face. Much love to each of you. Amy Heisdorffer McFadden Dallas, Texas

Arleen, Family & Friends, Larry was loved and admired by so many it would be impossible to count the number of prayers going up today. He will truly be missed by a multitude. We, his comrades in the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, salute him this one last time. Farewell old friend. May good winds lift you to Heaven's gate. Jim & Ruth
