John A. “Tony” Guyer, of Monticello and formerly of Des Moines, was called his eternal home on March 29, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Memorial Service:  11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015, at New Hope Assembly, 4425 70th Street, Urbandale.  

Survivors Include his Wife, Treva Guyer of Monticello; Children, Erica (Matt) Stoll of Urbandale, Natassia (Joe) Ortega of Indianola, Anthony Guyer of Monticello, Taylor Guyer of North Liberty, and step-son, Matt (Kim) Johnson of Monticello.  Parents, John and Judy Guyer of Des Moines.  Sisters, Jodene (Bill) Navin of Des Moines, and Renae (Randy Rickels) Guyer of Monticello.  Mother-in-law, Garnett Helgens of Monticello.  Sister-in-laws, Pam (Dan Moats) Helgens of Monticello and Cindy (Jeff Urbanek) Helgens of Monticello.  Grandchildren; Tyler, Dylan and Ella Stoll of Urbandale; Alicia, Devon, Avianna, Alexandria, Dominic, Arya, Isaiha, Nevaeh Ortega of Indianola; and Parker Johnson of Monticello.  

He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Sister, Joyce Lynn; Maternal Grandparents, Doris Little and Cecil Little; Paternal Grandparents, Dale and Roxie Guyer; Father-in-law, Robert W Helgens.   

Tony was born May 9, 1960, the son of John and Judy (Little) Guyer, in Des Moines, IA.

Tony was a Union Painter most recently employed by Color, Inc. of Des Moines.

Tony enjoyed every minute of life and wanted those around him to do the same.  He had a heart of gold and would do anything he could to help a person in need.  He enjoyed spending as much time as he could outdoors.  Tony’s prized possession was his riding lawn mower that he said took him 50 years to get. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Association or charity of your choice in Tony’s memory. 

Tony’s smile and jovial attitude will be greatly missed by all.
