To the Bailey family, I was fortunate to have lived next to your family for a short two years as the Bailey children were growing up and I will never forget this dynamic family. While I did not get to know them well, I will never forget Stu who was about eight years older than my very young son. He showed such kindness towards him and I remember Stu giving him a little toy car. My son was very impressed and from then on looked up to Stu. I'm sorry. Your many friends, neighbors and acquaintances are holding you in our hearts.

To the Bailey families: I am so sorry to learn of Pete's passing. The immediate jolt of sadness quickly turned to a smile, however, as I remembered the family man, businessman and "character" I had come to know best through coaching Stuart in the Cedar Rapids Kids League. Stu made an everlasting impact on me, like no other kid I have ever met, and Pete certainly had a big hand in on that impression as a role model. It was always a gas running into "Mr. Bailey" and to talk up Regis sports, Cubs baseball and all things Hawkeye. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal to his store and career, and his legacy lives on. We're all privileged to have known him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I trust you will celebrate his life as he would want you to. God bless.

Condolences Joanie, like many, I will miss this nice man, he was a gentle man. Jim Miller

I wish I could be with you all today, Joanie. God bless my good pal Pete.

One of the biggest pleasures of my time in Iowa was getting to know the whole Bailey family. Stu became one of my good friends and we got a such a kick out of the fact our dads had grown up together. I am grateful I was able to visit with Pete a few more times the last several years, what a wonderful man. Our best to all the Baileys today and always.

We were very saddened to hear of Pete's passing. So many fond memories of that wonderful smile and friendliness. I'm sure Stuart & Pete are up there smiling down on you and your family. Two great men. Take care Bailey family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear about your loss

Peter was such a beautiful soul with the best laughs and jokes. So blessed to know him over the years! I treasure the opportunity my children have had to know Joan and Pete every weekend at church and Sunday breakfast at Cork-n-Fork Deli. Joan, we are praying for you and the family. God Bless - Tracy and Mark Scieszinski (Joe, Matt & John)

My deepest sympathies are extended to the Bailey family. I was in the Army Reserves with Pete back in the early '60s. We used to call him "Beetle" after the comic strip character. He was always a good guy and in no way resembled the inept Beetle Bailey in the comics.

Joni and family, Offering my sympathy for your loss of Pete. I was a nurse of Stuart's at UIHC so many years ago. Your family remains one of my most memorable and cherished. Though there were difficult days, I also remember a good deal of smiles and laughs. Now you have at least two angels looking over you. My condolences, Bonnie Wagner

Our condolences to the Bailey"s. Having enjoyed Pete's friendship at Franklin High both on the basketball court and off, I know he will greatly missed by all who knew him. A fine person and stand up man....

Pete was a neighbor , I lived on park terrace and Pete on bever . Peter knew my family . I always remember the gracious and happy manner Pete always greeted me . The curious thing is he treated me as a fifth grader the same as I was an adult . Always kind and thought ful in every encounter . Great guy added to joy in the world . My condolences

I worked with Pete at MNB, and have bumped into him many times since. As a bank history buff, I always enjoyed our conversations about his and his father's experiences while working at the bank. Pete was a big Cleveland Indians fan and I also loved to talk baseball with him. We lost a great man, and I will miss him. My condolences to the family.

A true gentlemen! always enjoyed time with Pete; never without a smile, Upon saying "hello" had complete and total interest in conversing with you. Be greatly missed. Flip Klinger
