Was so shocked today after calling his phone about our bags to hear the sad news from Mary. We so enjoyed him coming into the Chocolate Haus! We talked cars, vacations, kids! He always spoke dearly of his wife, family and church! He will be greatly missed and we will be praying for all the family.

Mary and Family, We were very sorry to hear about your loss. You have been in our thoughts and prayers. The Prairie family is sending you a warm embrace. Wishing you comfort. With sympathy, Scott and Tracy Schipper

Dear Campbell Family, It was a true joy being able to have good conversation with Gary at the class reunions. I remember him well from high school and exactly where he used to sit in study hall. It appears he was a very upstanding and spiritual good guy in your community. He will be definitely missed.

Dear Campbell Family, We are so sorry for your loss. Please accept our sincere sympathies. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Take care.

Mary, when I think of you and Gary I think of all the fun the"DALEWOOD AVE FAMILIES had growing up togather. The many parties, yuker, sledding, bowling, and many extemporary parties. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Mary and girls, I was so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I am out at Sara"s taking care of her baby for a couple of weeks. Don called and told me what happened. I will try and get over to visit you when I get home --- I do see Carrrie at the children's Mass on Thursday. I certainly will keep you all in my prayers and think of you often. God Bless You All Mary Carrie, This is Sara (Mulherin). Mom is here visiting me and dad told me about your dad. I'm terribly sorry. I pray that you and your family find peace. I know your dad is at peace. Take care.

Dear Campbell Family, I wanted to send my heartfelt condolences. Gary worked with my dad at Armstrongs and then was our supplier at Kliks Photography. Gary was dedicated to finding us the products that best suited our needs. We always enjoyed his visits complete with spirited stories about his vacation adventures and grandchildren. You are in our thoughts today. Warm Regards, Audree

Mary and family, I was so surprised and saddened to see that your loving husband (Dad and Grandpa) had passed away. I know whenever I saw you two at church, you both looked like such bright, happy people that enjoyed life and each others company so much. My heart hurts for your loss. I've also gotten to know your son-in-law Jeff through our work together in a few advertising/marketing projects. I didn't not realize the family connection until I read it in the paper yesterday. Blessings to your family during this sad time. You will all be in my prayers.

To the Campbell family: I was shocked and saddened to learn of Gary's death. Gary was my "bag" salesmen and he was the best! He always loved to visit and we talked about his family, the Hawks, his golf game and more. He cared so deeply about how all of his retailers were doing. We hadn't seen each other for a couple of years and I had just called him to reconnect and place an order so I'm just devastated to see this news. How blessed I was to have known him. Sandy Rosenberger, Hearthstone Gifts & Supplies

Dear Campbell Family, My deepest sympathies to you at this difficult time. Sending prayers, love and light to you. Much love, Destiny Hastings PHS Class of '92

Mary and family, I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of Gary. I am not sure I knew a kinder more sincere man than Gary. He was a very good listener and just a very good friend of mine. We attended Fayette schools together. We attended Upper Iowa together. We roomed together in Waterloo when we worked at John Deere. And I enjoyed coming to Cedar Rapids and socializing with him years ago. I will miss him that is for sure. I am in Tucson, Arizona, now or I would be at the funeral this day. Again, I always thought he was a very good person. Mary, Kay, and family, I am truly sorry. We lost a good man! Ron Maxson, class of 1962.

Campbell Family, We are very sorry for your loss - Gary was a great man and a joy to have as a neighbor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Steven and Trisha Sheeley

Mrs. Campbell, Carrie and Cheri, My prayers and condolences to all of you and your families. Mr. Campbell was an amazing man who I loved seeing and chatting with after every performance that was produced in my time at PHS. No doubt he will be watching over all of you. God Bless, Chris

To The Campbell Family....."we can only imagine the awesome place Gary is at this time". I first witnessed Gary's genuine hospitality 10 years ago as he was the very first person to befriend me when we moved to the neighborhood. Since that first meeting 10 years ago we have met and visited many times while exercising our legs (my two and his six!!) walking the neighborhood streets. A friendly smile and cheerful greeting were always his trademarks. I've feel proud and blessed to have know him. Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. I pray for the Lord's Peace to be with you and sustain you through this difficult time. Bill Kuennen.....2498 Westwind.

Dear Mary and family. We very saddened to hear about Gary's passing. He always had a smile on his face at church. I spoke occasionally to him about Carrie and what a wonderful teacher she was to our daughters. I knew from our conversation how much family meant to him . Please know you and your family are in our prayers. I hope you feel the love and prayers from friends and family. Gods peace to you.

Mary and family, Our family was so saddened to hear about Gary. There are people who just brighten your day with their warm smile and sense of humor. Gary was one of those people. Watching him with all of you, it was always so apparent that his family meant everything to him. He was so proud of every one of you. John has so many fond memories of all of their years ushering together and thought of him as a dear friend. We hope you all can find comfort knowing that he is still caring for all of you from above. Truly a wonderful man who will be greatly missed. Earth's loss is heaven's gain.

When I think of Gary, one of the more recent memories I have is of him working side-by-side with some of Mary's drama students selling cookies at the intermission of one of Mary's theatrical productions at Prairie High School. Student workers at the concessions table were becoming a bit concerned and anxious. They were running out of cookies to sell and trouble was near, but suddenly there was Gary, to their rescue, calmly carrying a large box of cookies overhead through the sea of patrons in the foyer. I like to think of Gary as the man who supported Mary and his family in so many ways, so lovingly, for so many years...and as the man with the box of cookies.

We are so sorry to learn of the sudden passing of your husbad, father and grandfather! We will miss Gary's presense at St. E's and I know you all will miss him so dearly until one day you can meet him again. What an amazing gift Gary was to so many. Please know you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Mary and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Gary will be missed by many. I enjoyed his pleasant smile on Sunday's. I am thinking of you.

Mary and family, Carol and I extend our sincere condolences. Rejoice in your memories of Gary.

I just read Gary's memorial and it was lovely. Gary was a wonderful man and we are all better people for knowing him. Thinking of your family.

I am so sorry for your loss Mary and family. Gary was always a person who lit up a room with his smile. Our prayers are with you.
