Sarah Christensen, 98, a resident of the Meth-Wick Community, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in Cedar Rapids. As were her wishes, her cremated remains were inurned next to her husband at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Entrusted with her arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Sarah was born on October 22, 1916 to Hugh and Janet Reid. She married Ernest H. Christensen on June 7, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Sarah is survived by two daughters, Karen (Christopher) Paterson and Cary Christensen, as well as two grandsons.
She was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church; Sarah served as a Deacon, elder, and taught Sunday school for 20 years. She was also a member of PEO. Sarah worked at Iowa Electric Light Company and served as a principal’s secretary for the Cedar Rapids School District for 15 years.
