Peggy Jo Hungerford, 83, of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday July 22, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church where friends may call after 10:00 AM on Monday. Rev. Emory Gillespie and Rev. Herb Isenberg will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a son David (Kate) of Buda, Texas and two daughters Nancy (Rick) Miller of Annandale, New Jersey, Sally (John) Rode of Overland Park, Kansas, and a brother Keith Barber. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Callie Hungerford, Alex Miller (significant other Sarah Bavier) and Olivia and Michael Rode. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Norma Lou Brodersen.   

Peggy was born on February 19, 1932 in Wyoming, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Valda Moore Barber. She attended Iowa State University, where she met the love of her life, Laurence Hungerford Jr. Her irrepressible spirit of adventure led her to New Jersey, and a stint as a flight attendant for United Airlines. After she and Larry were married on November 23, 1953 they moved to Cedar Rapids, where Larry began his career at Collins Radio/Rockwell Collins.

Peggy was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian church where she had been a Choir Mother and a Deacon. She dedicated so much to her family, traveling with Larry, and volunteering for church, the Indian Creek Nature Center, and so many other community activities. 

Her countless friends and family will miss her dearly and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
