Rose Marie Krabbenhoeft, 78, passed away on January 22, 2015 at Living Care Center West.  Per Rose’s wishes there will be no visitations or service.  Burial will be held at a later date.

Rose was born in Tripp, South Dakota on June 18, 1936 to Michael and Selma (Nelson) Shanahan.  Rose moved to Calmar, Iowa at a young age.  Her father worked for the Milwaukee Railroad.  He was a station agent there.  She attended schools in Calmar and graduated from Calmar High School in 1954.  Rose worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company retiring in 1979.  She married Donald Thayer in 1957.  They later divorced in 1975.  She married Julius Krabbenhoeft in 1979.  She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 788.

She is survived by her husband, Julius; daughters, Katherine (Theron) Hicks of Jackson, MI; Theresa (Joseph) Rice Gould of Murray, KY; Linda (James) Gude of Sheldon, Iowa; and Son, Michael Thayer of Coralville.  Three step children, Julie (Theodore Wham) Krabbenhoeft of Seattle, WA; Carol Krabbenhoeft of Chico, CA; and Dale Krabbenhoeft of Marion; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Hicks, Rosa Gude, Madaline Gude, Daniel Thayer, Drew Thayer and John Thayer.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Jean Dickson, Kathleen Parkhill and her brothers, Michael and Joseph Shanahan.
