Herchelle D. “Tony” Bales, 80, of Marion died Tuesday January 20, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services at 10:30 AM on Monday at New Covenant Bible Church where friends may visit with the family after 9:30 AM on Monday. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy, two daughters Paula (Richard) Waite of Eldon, Pamela (Matthew) Waddell of Marion, and a brother Jerry of Great Falls, Montana. He is also survived by three grandchildren Kathryn and Micah Waddell and Allen Waite. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Johnson and JoAnn Myers.
Tony was born on November 16, 1934 in Adel the son of Herchelle and Martha Sell Bales. He married Lucy A. Olson on August 1, 1964 in Mitchellville.
Tony was an engineer lab manager at Rockwell, retiring in 1992 after 33 years of service. He was a faithful member of the New Covenant Bible Church and proudly served in the Marines Corps.
Tony enjoyed model railroads, travel with his wife Lucy, having coffee with his friends and especially the time spent with his beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Mission of Hope.
