Dennis A. Pfiffner, 74, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday January 24, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM on Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church where friends may call after 9:30 AM on Thursday. Rev. John R. Flaherty will officiate.  Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Pat, two sons Erik and Neal (Tammy) all of Cedar Rapids; one brother Dean (Connie) of Atkins and three sisters, Joyce (Nick) Cimmento of South Carolina, Sue (Richard) Mihal of Mississippi and Charlotte (Tim) Spacek of Florida. He is also survived by three grandchildren Chase, Ty, and Caden. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis was born on August 13, 1940 in Iowa City the son of Arnold and Bertha Scholtes Pfiffner and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958. He married Patricia A. Goheen on February 19, 1966 in Cedar Rapids.

Dennis was the owner and operator of the Vernon Heights Standard Station as well as the 3rd Ave. Amoco Station for many years. He retired in 1991.

Dennis was a member of and co-founder of the Cedar Valley Street Rods Organization, the Cedar Boat Club, and proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a real outdoorsman. Dennis enjoyed water and snow skiing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling and street rodding with his 2 door 37 Ford sedan.  

His greatest joy however was spending time with his many friends and beloved family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
