Is this the same Melanie Kanellis that went to CR Washington HS and graduated in '74? I'm SO sorry for the news. I dated Melanie when we were kids and remember her as this redheaded cute little bundle of energy. So young! You're in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. It was always a joy to see Mel at work whenever I would stop in. A big "hi" and smile for my day always asking about me and how I was and how come I did not come around more often. When my mom was alive she would stop there everyday before work and loved talking with her very much. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

I was so sorry to hear the sad news about Melanie. When paying for Hy-Vee gas her cheerful and sunny nature always made the day brighter with laughter. Bless you Mel, you will be missed. Pat Barrance

i am extremly sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Melanie for 18 years, she wAs like a second mother to me. So many great memories with her and the family! I love all you guys and if there is anything any of you need please let me know. Melanie will be loved and missed by many! I will never forget all of the fun times when me and Jessica were young. I know she is looking down on us all, drinking her sludge and smiling. Rest in paradise mom!

Jen, Jeremy, Joe, Jessica and family, I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. It seems like yesterday when we were in the old neighborhood watching you kids grow up! Melanie always had something good cooking on the stove, some project she was working on and a good story to tell. She was a fun neighbor, and always willing to help everyone in any way. May you find comfort in your wonderful memories. You are in my thoughts and best wishes at this most difficult time.

I have only known Melanie for a few years, from having her wait on me at Hy-Vee, when I got my gas. She knew me by name & my granddaughter Abby's name. She would ask of her if she hadn't seen her for a bit. She always put many "stamps" on the receipt for Abby, as I am sure she did for many kids. Abby really enjoyed seeing her & being able to talk with her if she wasn't real busy. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers to her family. She was a GREAT lady and will be truely missed.

I am so sorry to read Melanie's passing. She was a good friend back in our Franklin Jr. High School days. She made the boring classes fun! We would sing Beatle's songs. Peace and comfort to her family!

My thoughts and prayers are with Melanie's kids at this time. I have so many memories of Melanie from swimming at her parents house to doing crafts and cooking (she could cook)! She taught me how to make stuffed pork chops which I make to this day. She was always a busy lady in a good way and she loved her kids dearly. I hope you can find time for each other and always think of the good times..

Mrs. Waterman is one of those individuals who you never forget - she had that way about her. I remember often that she would provide me with as much reassurance as I would try provide her! "I'm fine doc, and I'm going home today!" She was a strong woman, and she absolutely adored her children and her family - she talked about her children often during her hospitalization after surgery. She scared the nursing staff a few times because she knew what she wanted, but they all loved her - I certainly did. God bless you during this time of grievance - it is also a time to celebrate the life of an amazing woman. I am privileged to have known her.

My deepest condolences to all. I have so many memories of Mel, she was my neighbor and high school buddy. We lost contact in the '80's and I've been wishing that we could reconnect. She was a special part of my life.

I am sorry for your loss. I always tried to stop in and see Melanie when ever I was back in town. She was always happy and upbeat and I am going to miss seeing her.

So very sorry for your loss.. I didnt havr the pleasure to meet her, but I heard nothing but wonderful things about her. Jessie, know that I am here if you need anything! ?

I am so sorry for your loss Love and prayers are with you all

So sorry for the loss of this lady. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family and friends.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Praying for peace for your family & strength knowing she is no longer suffering. XO

I am thankful I got so many years to know Melanie. Through the years I have always been close to Jessica and to this day I have never seen Jessica cry like she did when Melanie decorated their house for Jessica's 16th birthday. Being a teenager was rough and the surprise waiting at home was exactly what was needed! From spending so many nights to singing happy birthday with the dogs, my life would have been a lot more difficult if I didn't have Melanie there when I needed somewhere to run away to. My chosen family is the best ever! Love you and I'm sorry for everyone's loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember going over to Jen's. house and your mom would be sitting at the table. Always laughing and speaking what was on her mind. She loved to ask me to stay and eat dinner. You will be missed!
